In Alphabetical Order...

Bambu Home

"We come from a place that prides itself on local, homegrown, and eco-friendly values. We relocated to a place that's often criticized for its manufacturing processes. We thought to ourselves, "How can we infuse the best of Portland with the native resources endemic to China? Several years later, our small production and development team continues to design local products that we proudly share with the rest of the world.

Why complicate a material that is both functional and beautiful? At the heart of our design process is an underlying philosophy to preserve the simplicity of a raw material while shaping it in a way that makes it classically modern. We are a local company. We source our materials locally. We work with local woodworkers, weavers and stitchers. Our team prides itself on the quality of our products. Our design and assembly processes result in safe and durable products that will last for years and can withstand the toughest use case: real life.
For us, sustainability goes well beyond the balance between what we take from the earth and what we return to it. It's a philosophy that applies to how we conduct ourselves as a business. We make strides to further our commitment to 3rd-party certification and testing, promote fair labor practices and safe working conditions, and green our supply chain."

Bee's Wrap

"Bee's Wrap is devoted to conservation and sustainability. As a family business, we are vested in the values and environment we pass along to future generations. Bee's Wrap's products are reusable, biodegradable and compostable.  We pay careful attention to our ingredients and materials used in our production process from start to finish, always striving to do a little better.

Our fabric and printing is GOTS certified, our beeswax is sourced from sustainably kept hives and we use only organic jojoba oil.  Our packaging is recyclable and plastic free. Occasionally you may see some plastic in our packaging- this is ALWAYS because we are reusing something that was sent to us. Our product packaging is 100% recycled. Bee's Wrap strives to close the loop, minimizing waste by reuse."

Cleaning Essentials

"Cleaning Essentials is the brainchild of Martha and Mike, urban homesteaders living in a small town in upstate New York. They have two beautiful children and a backyard full of chickens. Mike has been creating natural cleaning products for years. Martha wanted cleaners for their home that were effective and safe for the whole family -- that would be more in line with their healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

Hence the birth of Cleaning Essentials -- attractive cleaning bottles and supplies, with all the guidance you need to make your own cleaning products in moments with ingredients from your pantry. The products work wonders, smell great, and are totally safe for the kids. Martha and Mike love the effectiveness of their homemade cleaners. And the side benefit for them? Their kids love nothing more than to zoom around the house spraying and cleaning surfaces and toys. Their little farmhouse has never been cleaner!

Cleaning Essentials sources the highest quality reusable cleaning containers and supplies available. Our products are made to be used over and over again. The Original Glass Cleaning Bottle and wipes container have easy to follow recipes printed right on the side. The colored glass protects the essential oils that give green cleaners their power. These guaranteed-durable containers eliminate plastic, reduce waste, and are made in the USA."

Core Bamboo

"Core Bamboo is the proud manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer of the world’s finest Bamboo products including bamboo bowls, cutting boards, serving trays and utensils. All of our products are made by our experienced team of hard working artisans in a safe and responsible environment. We take great pride not only in the outstanding quality of our products but in the environment in which they are made. Every product that bears our name was made ethically and in a socially responsible way. We have been awarded several honors by different local associations and trade groups for the standard in which we hold ourselves by.

We were fortunate enough to be born into a more privileged environment. We view it as our responsibility to help those who weren’t. It has been a Core directive since our inception to always give back to the communities in which we are proud to be a part of. Our family of over 2,000 skilled and talented artisans span throughout different parts of the world. All of our communities benefit from their employment and our local charitable endeavors. From proper housing and medical care, to additional parks and recreation, it gives us a great sense of purpose and accomplishment that we are able to play a meaningful part in the lives of such wonderful people.

All of the bamboo we use is 100% organically grown. We use food safe water based adhesives and we finish our products with top grade natural oils. Even our lacquer comes from natural cashew trees. Every product adheres to the standards of the FDA and European equivalent. Wherever possible we use recycled and eco friendly packaging."

Davids Natural Toothpaste

"In 2011, Davids founder, Eric David Buss, began looking into the ingredients being used in the 'natural' toothpaste he was using, and found that many of the ingredients were unhealthy.  After looking for a better alternative, and not happy with what was available, a 'simple' idea of creating his own toothpaste was formed. This initial idea turned into a four year obsession to develop the very best natural toothpaste possible, thus Davids was born.

Through exhaustive research with industry experts, we were able to identify the best natural ingredients to safely and effectively fight to remove plaque, whiten teeth, and freshen breath.  While talking to ingredient suppliers, we also found that most toothpaste companies use a lot of imported ingredients in their "Made in USA" toothpaste, which led to our commitment to using premium USA origin ingredient in our effort to sustain American jobs.

Today, our vision, research, development, and commitment to sustainability brings you Davids Natural Toothpaste."

"We are a mission-based social enterprise that uses the capitalist engine to educate and empower people to reduce their dependence on plastics. We're part of the plastic pollution solution.

Whether our customers join our community (by buying our products!) because they are worried about their health, their pocketbook or the planet, it makes no difference to me. A journey towards new habits can begin anywhere.

I am delighted our products have empowered people to say goodbye to plastic at lunchtime! And in providing our earth-friendly containers and accessories as tools to help people green their habits at lunchtime, we’re also opening people's thinking to moving beyond plastic in many other parts of their lives."

EcoNuts Organic Soap Nuts

"We wanted to start a business that we could feel wonderful about. We wanted a business that would be great for the marketplace and the environment. But we also wanted to make or sell something that customers could feel good about buying and using as well as something that was useful and effective.

It also bothered us that when we took walks on the beach, it was littered with the plastic bottles of so-called eco-friendly detergents and cleaners.

When we first learned about soap nuts, there were only a few companies selling them to consumers. When we ordered our first soap nuts, we were also disappointed. This product, that is naturally eco-friendly and has so many benefits, routinely was packaged in a lot of plastic.

We realized we could not only package and market soap nuts better than anyone else, but we could also build upon the wonderful properties of saponin and create other products. Our goal was to be as plastic free as possible to truly make the entire package as eco-friendly as possible – from contents to container.

We called our company `Eco Nuts,’ which we thought was a great description for these fantastic little berries as well as wonderful play on words for people like us who are crazy about the environment. We hope you will join us by becoming an Eco Nut, too!"

"With a passion for pure ingredients and their own children as inspiration, Robin Brown and Anna Cirronis created Erbaviva, a beautiful line of authentically organic skincare products for baby, mothers-to-be and everyone else. The exclusive, handmade collection is Certified USDA Organic and Demeter Biodynamic.

In the defining spirit of voyagers, Robin and Anna were among the very first to seek out and source the highest quality organic ingredients possible for their original organic baby skincare line in 1996.  Desiring the healthiest, safest and most natural products for their newborn, the couple developed distinctively pure products, consciously crafted with ultimately nourishing living herbs and botanicals and free from harsh detergents, chemical fragrances and other unhealthy additives. Erbaviva was born.

Erbaviva remains ever true to its originating philosophy of authenticity and enduring commitment to people and the environment with its products, manufacturing and global community service.  Erbaviva is a proud financial supporter of The Blink Now Foundation and its invaluable work to sustain and care for the lives of impoverished children in Nepal. Since the founding of the company, Erbaviva has also been an integral part of an artisan project fund that provides direct financial benefit to the Pwo Karen hill tribe of Northern Thailand and Burma.

All of Erbaviva’s products are compassionately made by hand at the company’s own renewable energy powered facility in Southern California. A Certified B Corporation, Erbaviva consistently implements and supports sustainable and environmentally responsible principles with every practice and partnership as possible."

flip & tumble

"What is flip & tumble about? That’s simple! flip & tumble is all about making quality products that won’t end up in the landfill. We realize that all products consume material and we consider it a responsibility to make the most out of whatever materials we’re using. For us that means that a product should definitely work well, but it should also do more. It should be beautiful and bring joy through its use. It’s a tall order, but one that we think is very important. To that end, we sweat the small stuff until we think the product is just right functionally and aesthetically. Our hope is that you’ll get oodles of use out of our products, and some smiles along the way.

Besides creating green products, we try to keep our footprint on the earth a little lighter by operating as a carbon neutral office. Our carbon credits go towards planet-friendly projects such as exploring clean energy and development of landfill gas capture through Carbonfund. flip & tumble is also a certified Green America Business. To learn more about what this means and what we stand for, check out the Green America link below. It’s also important to us that we take the time to do the little things that matter. Sometimes it’s about using the 2nd side of a piece of paper, recycling our paper and cardboard waste, or avoiding unnecessary car trips."

Hurraw! Balm

"Hurraw! Balm started out of pure intent; a personal obsession to create the perfect balm:
all natural, vegan, made from premium raw, organic and fair trade ingredients,
complete with a bunch of natural and fun flavor options! It also had to meet some tough criteria...

Super smooth, not draggy, not sticky, not sweet, not too glossy, not too smelly, never grainy, long lasting; plus, it had to hold up to being in a back jeans pocket all day without melting!

It took us several obsessed years to formulate Hurraw! Balm and put it through all the rigors.
We love it, use it, and hope you do too.

To ensure the quality and integrity of our product, we individually pour each tube of Hurraw! balm in our own facility. Our top priority is to make Hurraw! the finest all natural, vegan, balm available...
a great product to be used by everyone regardless of lifestyle.

We source honest, fair trade, organic, vegan and raw ingredients from reputable suppliers and are thrilled to share the labors with other balm lovin' individuals. Your purchase supports legit fair trade, organic farmers and suppliers here in the States and around the World.

Let’s put the concept ahead of the profit, the user ahead of the maker, the collective ahead of the individual"

J.R. Liggett's

"J.R. Liggett was first introduced to making soap at the very early age of five. His Great Aunt Ann who lived in Denman, Nebraska had him help her make her yearly batch of soap.

This soap was completely utilitarian and used for everything from bathing, dishes, clothes and general cleaning. Aunt Ann cooked down all of the fat, grease and oils she had saved up through the previous year and thus rendered the oils needed to make her soap.  She then used her soap through out the next year. This is how it was done in many parts of rural America during the early and mid 20th century.

J.R. really enjoyed the process of making soaps and continued this practical and artistic hobby until about 35 years ago when he discovered an old recipe card stuck in a very old book. The recipe was for “Hair Soap” and caught J.R.’s attention. He made up a batch and the rest is history. One of the finest “all natural” shampoos, not seen for more than 100 years. He started by giving bars to friends and family as gifts for Christmas, birthdays, holidays, what ever the occasion. He soon had people asking for more and more.

During this time J.R. was working in New York City as an Art Director for Ogilvy & Mather (at the time they were the 3rd largest Advertising Agency in the world).  J.R. had a very successful career there creating National TV and Print ads for clients like Owens Corning insulation (Pink Panther), Mercedes Benz, and Pepperidge Farm to name but a few. He also won two prestigious “Clio Awards” for both TV and Print. A Clio Award for advertising is similar to the Academy Award for film.

While living in NYC, J.R. and his wife Diane bought a beautiful farm in New Hampshire and quickly set about figuring a way they could move there and still make a living. Diane suggested maybe making Shampoo and selling it. The idea stuck and soon they had move to New Hampshire and had a growing and successful business of their own.

Now, over 30 years later, J.R.LIGGETT’S has over 30 products they sell nationally and internationally. All with a consciousness toward ecology and their customers well being."

Onyx Containers

"Onyx Containers was conceived shortly after our daughter was born. Like most new parents we became a lot more aware of the health compromises we deal with when we cook, store and eat our food. We've known plastic and food is an unhealthy combination for as long as you have. Glass seemed to be our best alternative (even though the lids are plastic) but then they started breaking. Apparently this wasn't just 'our thing' but actually happens to almost everyone who drops glass from a height. We soon realized that glass shards and barefoot babies are like, well, plastic and food. We wanted alternatives to plastic. While searching for non-plastic bottles, cups, plates, snack containers etc. we discovered that anything of any quality is hard to find and over priced.

We believe that everyone should be able to buy safe and environmentally responsible products without breaking the bank. We spent a great deal of time researching plastic alternatives and found that the few choices out there are either low quality or hugely marked up. The products that we carry are of the highest quality, manufactured in responsible conditions and are very fairly priced.

We use all of the products that we sell ourselves. We have found that high quality food grade stainless steel is the best option for fluid bottles, sealable containers, cups, bowls etc. for it's durability, food safety and versatility ie. freezer to stove/oven. We are currently working on some fantastic new products, and are always looking for new and interesting ideas. Let us know if there is something that you think should be made in stainless steel. If we like your idea we'll build it and could be sending you samples for testing!"

"PiperWai is the first naturally powerful, aluminum-free deodorant that uses activated charcoal to absorb wetness and fight odor. Natural ingredients like organic coconut oil, shea butter, and pure vitamin E soothe even the most sensitive skin. Our stain-free formula rubs in clear and won’t discolor your clothes. Meet your new essential.

PiperWai’s formula uses activated charcoal which can absorb 1,000x its own weight in moisture, forming an absorbent shield between your skin and your shirt. It keeps you dry and stain-free, even through workouts, all without plugging your sweat glands like traditional antiperspirant.

Sweat secreted from your underarms glands is odorless, but starts to smell when exposed to bacteria. PiperWai’s natural ingredients create a pH-balanced environment where bacteria can’t thrive, leaving you and your clothes smelling fresh with a single application - even after workouts!

A proprietary blend of 11 therapeutic-grade essential oils gives PiperWai its signature spa-like scent. No more smelling like baby powder or synthetic fragrances.

Packed with skin-conditioning ingredients like organic coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, and pure vitamin E oil, PiperWai is great for sensitive skin. Unlike other baking soda-heavy formulas, PiperWai won’t cause irritation, can be applied immediately after shaving and is even gentle on skin conditions like psoriasis or eczema."

Thesis Beauty

"We created Thesis for all of you who want to end the tiresome and disappointing search for the perfectly healthy, pure skincare. We've been there, trying hundreds of products, natural and not so natural that didn't work or seemingly worked, but cost an arm and a leg. Here you can be sure to get truly pure, vegan and eco-friendly products that really work and are responsible in every way - without breaking a bank. What's the point in creating the purest, greenest product that only a few people can afford? Our goal is to bring change by making pure, vegan and eco-friendly beauty affordable. If more people can embrace and access it, it will make even bigger difference in our lives and environment.

Quality of the ingredients is everything when it comes to creating truly pure and functional skin care. We carefully assess each ingredient and formulate only with the most potent certified organic botanicals (oils, butters, essences, herbs, glycerin etc.) and premium natural salts, clays and some other ingredients that come straight from nature and are not synthesized or processed in any way. Most of our ingredients are food grade (except clays, some salts and some oils). Our ingredient panel in most cases sounds like your health food store shopping list! That's why our products are so nourishing to your skin - they are a true, pure skin food. Our carrier oils, butters and botanicals are also raw, unprocessed and loaded with antioxidants helping hydrate your skin, prevent signs of premature aging, and support your skins health.

As beauty purists, we are proud of the fact that most of our products consist up to 100% of certified organic ingredients, many of which, by the way, have been used in cooking or medicinally for thousands of years and withstood the test of time (and without animal testing!).

Our eco-friendly apothecary glass containers will never interact with essential oils or release toxins into the final product like many plastics do. Also sunlight depletes ingredients of their potency - a common problem with clear packaging. Our stylish dark glass bottles block the light so you can enjoy full-strength products.

We manufacture our products right here, in the USA. All items are produced in small batches to keep things fresh and most potent."

"After over a year of development, WooBamboo launched Earth Day of 2013. In less than 3 years, our line of natural bamboo toothbrushes are available in over 2,500 stores in more than a dozen countries. So far over half a million plastic toothbrushes have been replaced with bamboo!

We know our products aren’t going to save the world. They can, however, remind us everyday that we have made one small step towards a cleaner planet. We aren’t powerless. We have a choice – and those small choices can lead to big change if enough of us embrace them.

It’s our mission to inspire people every day to use cleaner, more natural products that are better for them and better for the Earth. When you start and end your day using WooBamboo, you know you’ve done something good for the environment, and you’ll want to do more. And if millions of people start and end their day wanting to do more for the environment – we’ve changed the world.

Innovate. Inspire. Change the world."

Woolzies Natural Fabric Softener

"Soft By Nature, Inc. is a small family owned company nestled in the picturesque Hudson Valley region of Southern New York State. Our mission is straight-forward; we intend to pass down this earth to our children in the same beautiful condition that we received it from our parents. We accomplish this by developing all natural eco friendly products and sharing them with our fellow citizens.

In this spirit, we are very proud to present WOOLZIES®, The All Natural Dryer Ball Set. These sets of handmade pure wool dryer balls are special in several ways. They deliver the same benefits for laundry as conventional fabric softeners WITHOUT all the nasty chemicals. They save everyone a lot of money by eliminating the need to continuously spend on fabric softener liquid and sheets. They cut down on the time it takes to dry a typical load by at least 25% thereby saving everyone even more money and cutting down on fossil fuel usage. Finally, being as that they are handmade in the democratic republic of Nepal, they provide a steady source of income to the desperately needy women of that developing nation.

So smile when you purchase a set of WOOLZIES®, because you know you’re helping to make the world a more pleasant place for yourself, your family and future generations!"
